Governance Reviews

Boards must set up their organizations for success in fulfilling their missions. Governance is about that fundamental structuring of decision-making authority. It is how an organization is directed and controlled in order to ensure its mission is achieved. It encompasses questions of structure, responsibility and process.

Is your organization’s governance structure effective? Sometimes the development of an organization can outgrow its legacy governance structure. Sometimes there is a desire to reflect better practices and become excellent, to go from good to great!

A Governance Review allows an organization to reexamine its membership structure, by-laws, board role, board composition, governance approach or model, and organizational policies to ensure that goals of good governance and accountability to stakeholders are met.

Clients tell us that our experience is an asset to their leadership because we’ve been part of governance change in many settings. We can share what other organizations are doing while we help you find the right governance principles and solutions for your organization, its mission, culture and history. We have completed successful governance reviews and seen real governance change occur as a result. We help organizations implement governance reviews effectively – mindful of what is good governance and with sensitivity to relationships and the change process required. We work out with you what communications to members are involved – and the information they need to have to support organizational change.

The result? A successful change process and better governance going forward.
